For example, I get a motion trigger and recording when a bug flies by a camera, or when one of the cameras aperatures automatically adjusts to changing light conditions. Also, on my dome cameras, headlight flashes from cars turning from adjoining side streets trigger motion. If we could have a variable that says "disregard motion events shorter than XXXX milliseconds (seconds) then it would be much easier to filter spurious events out, to fit local conditions.
I have the same problems with mine. In addition it seems that the high quality IP camera's are such a high resolution that even at the lowest sensitivity level motion detection will trigger with a sparrow (small bird) flying in frame 15' away.
